The inadvertent expat blogger behind StorySproutTablet

Hello, I am Sofia
I work as a project manager and am a parent, an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the long-range plan. Like many international moves, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were tough— unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks often felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and a lot of learning on the job. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built StorySproutTablet
Most online information is either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism material. What’s missing is an honest, everyday family perspective.
This website aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is NOT:
- A tourist board resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A standard travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue chronicling what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sofia
